In 1913, our founder, Zenzo BAMBA, built the factory and established the skill to print multiple-color designs
beautifully on fabrics with uneven surface so-called“Chirimen”.
His method was the silkscreen-dye making full use of “Ise-Katagami” (paper made stencil) and hand-brushes.
The fabrics he hand-dyed were so beautiful that they were widely used for Kimono and he acquired lots of popularity.
Our family has been succeeding the tradition and authenticity since the establishment.
Now the 4th generation, Norio BAMBA, takes an active role of developing overseas markets.
Our goal is to deliver high quality products to the world through BAMBA’s craftsmanship of dyeing.
As all are hand-made in the antique style factory, we hope you will feel our tradition and hostory.
We have the skill and experience to print designs beautifully on “TANGO CHIRIMEN” silk-woven fabrics which have uneven surface.
We also have a very good skill to produce beautiful furoshiki.
Both edges of the authentic furoshiki are not rounded up or sewed.
A design will not be cropped for furoshiki.
We have the skill to print designs fully to the edges of the fabric beautifully.
Through the workshop at Bamba dye factory, you can experience the traditional hand-print technique wit“Ise-Katagami”, which is a traditional paper-crafted stencil originally used
for printing designs on Kimono wears.
Alphabets and numbers made of “Ise-katagami” are prepared for the workshop and you can enjoy printing your own name, friend’s name or birthday on Bamba furoshiki. You can bring
back your own furoshiki as a souvenir.
You can also sight-see the artisans’ actual works at our antique style factory lasting for 110 years.
Enjoy the workshop in the traditional atmosphere.
At our workshop, you can experience hand-printing using the traditional “Ise-Katagami” stencil and hand-made brush.
Both are authentic tools that are actually used through furoshiki artisans’ work.
